Crystal Martin-Nelson

Senior Associate

Crystal Martin-Nelson is an Arroyo Research Services Senior Associate and Editor. Ms. Martin-Nelson’s work for Arroyo Research Services includes report writing, editing, and project management, as well as qualitative research including interviews, site visits, and content analysis. Her recent work includes an analysis of middle school student conceptions of college for UNC Asheville, comprehensive reporting for Project RAISE, a USED HSI STEM project at CSU Fullerton, report production for a major Arroyo Research Services evaluation of one-to-one computing, research assistance on the Texas Dropout Recovery Pilot Program and the NSF-funded Teachers Assisting Students to Excel in Mathematics (TASEL) Program (an initiative of the Garden Grove Unified School District in partnership with CSU Fullerton), and writing for the Virginia Department of Education. Prior to joining Arroyo Research Services, Martin-Nelson was a Director at The RAND Corporation, where she designed and drove strategic outreach initiatives, and a Director at the Pacific Council on International Policy at the University of Southern California. As an Associate with Metiri Group, she managed education research project teams, conducted education policy, evaluation and professional development work, and assisted in the development of nationally recognized technology-based tools for educators. Her research experience includes positions with The RAND Corporation, the University of Southern California, Ivy West Education Services, Inc., the United Nations Association, and the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Ms. Martin-Nelson holds an M.A. in Political Science, as well as a B.A. in Social Anthropology, from the University of Southern California.
